Who We Are

HKSGrandOpeningHow We Met

Melissa and Dana first met at the University of Central Arkansas in 2002 where they became fast friends and sorority sisters. There are many college stories to tell about these two but they have been sworn to secrecy! After college they remained close despite Dana living in Virginia for several years. Finally, Dana and her family moved back to Arkansas in 2010. She and Melissa love tailgating at Razorback games, hanging out at the Naturals stadium, and trying out all the local restaurants in NWA. Back in 2014 these two ladies sat down to have dinner and the idea of Honeycomb Kitchen Shop was born. They haven’t looked back since and are so excited to make a dream into reality!

Melissa Turpin

Melissa is originally from Des Arc, Arkansas, and attended the University of Central Arkansas where she graduated with a degree in Public Relations. She moved to the NWA area back in 2008. In her career she worked for two large corporations and specialized in national account management, supply chain, and logistics. She is married to her wonderful husband, Chase, and they have two rescue dogs named Maggie and Hugo that keep the family constantly entertained! Melissa is from a family of foodies who have always enjoyed cooking, trying new foods, and just eating in general. She enjoys traveling to new places, going to concerts, and crafting (although crafting is a recent development and sometimes tests her patience)!

Dana Smith

Dana, who was born in Pennsylvania, moved to Bee Branch, Arkansas, her freshman year of high school. She attended the University of Central Arkansas where she majored in Environmental Science and then moved to Virginia where she received her Master’s Degree in Urban and Environmental Planning from the University of Virginia. She currently is the Environmental Education Specialist with Fayetteville Public Schools where she spends her time outside with students exploring the natural environment.  She also enjoys gardening, crafting, hiking, and spending time with her family. Dana loves cooking meals that include fresh fruits and vegetables from her garden.  When she isn’t teaching or at the shop, Dana can be found hanging out with Scott (husband), Charlie (dog), and Frannie and Henrietta (chickens).
