A new cooking series with Chef Aria Kagan of Brightwater featuring recipes from the five Blue Zones

People around the world are fascinated with the “Blue Zone” regions because the people there live not only longer, but better. Besides having a large percentage of people that live to 100, the aging population also remains active well into their 80 and 90s, and typically do not suffer the degenerative diseases common in most of the industrialized world. Why, you may ask? Scientists believe a major part is due to their diets!

Join Chef Aria Kagan in the HKS Kitchen for her new cooking series focusing on each of the five regions.  This class will feature Costa Rica, specifically the 80-mile long Nicoya peninsula, known for their "plan de vida" (reason to live), focus on family, and low calorie intake. Chef Aria will prepare a spread of fresh tropical fruit guests will enjoy upon arrival.  In the hands on portion, she will teach you how the Nicoyans make Chayote Picadillo. Then make fresh corn tortillas from scratch! It wouldn't be truly Costa Rican without some Nicoyan rice and black beans as well! Recipes will be provided.

*All class ticket sales are final. No refunds or credit transfers to other classes are available.*
