with Ellen Lewis of How Sweet Is Homemade
Join us if you dare for this spooky and fun-filled cookie decorating class that not only features a Halloween theme, but shows the versatility of cookie cutters themselves! Ellen Lewis is back in our HKS kitchen showing off her talents and teaching you how to create gorgeous sugar cookies with royal icing. This darling theme will feature a skeleton, mummy, voodoo doll, jack-o-lantern, poisoned apple, and spiderweb! Six different designs using only two cookie cutter shapes. Ellen will discuss ideas and creative ways to use cutters to make different designs to fit your themes. She will also discuss everything from mixing icing to decorating tools to techniques so your cookies turn out just right every time. Each participant will decorate half a dozen cookies as well as mix royal icing in this fully hands-on class. Take leftover icing home to have even more decorating fun! Charcuterie snack boxes from Sweet Freedom Cheese will be served for you to enjoy.

MEET THE BAKER:
Ellen Lewis is the cookie baker behind How Sweet is Homemade, which was born out of her love for all things homemade and her desire to provide simple goodness for others to enjoy. She has always loved baking and is a self-taught cookie decorator. Ellen was first introduced to rolled sugar cookies in the seventh grade, and they have been her favorite sweet treat to bake ever since. While she has been making sugar cookies for years, it was just a few years ago that she began to decorate with royal icing. As Ellen honed her skills, she began her business and began teaching classes. Her days are spent rolling dough and making custom sweet goodness while her afternoons and evenings are spent being a mom to her three kids and wife to her husband, Brad.
